Changquan (長拳, literally Long Fist) is used as a general term for external Wushu that originates from Northern China. The forms within the Long Fist style emphasize fully extended kicks and striking techniques together with large sweeping movements that seek to improve body mobility in the muscles, tendons and joints of practitioners. In today's practice of contemporary Wushu, Long Fist techniques make up the core curriculum. Its practice requires patience, great flexibility and high levels of athleticism for young practitioners with its whirling, running, leaping, and dynamic acrobatics.
